Baking bread can be so easy – like this Italian ciabatta. This crispy bread impresses with its incredibly delicious crust and airy dough. You can easily make this basic recipe yourself.


Ingredients:

  • 400 g freshly ground flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • ½ cube of fresh yeast
  • 270 ml lukewarm water
  • some freshly ground flour for dough preparation

Preparation:

  1. Mix fresh flour with salt and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Crumble in the yeast, add 270 ml of lukewarm water and mix together.
  3. Let the very soft dough rest, covered, for at least 2 hours.
  4. Generously flour the work surface and fold the dough into a parcel with damp hands.
  5. Fold again and cover once more, then let it rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and sprinkle with a little flour.
  7. Sprinkle the dough with flour and shape it into a 30 cm long strand.
  8. Place on the baking sheet, sprinkle with flour again, and let rest for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven (conventional oven: 240°C / fan oven: 220°C).
  9. Bake for approximately 22 minutes and let cool on a wire rack.
  10. Enjoy!
