The KoMo story:

1985
The beginning of the story
Peter Koidl begins building his first grain mills under license. As a sole proprietor, he already covers the annual production for the entire Austrian milling market. KoMo has always been a pioneer in sustainability. With the "Everyone Gets a Maple Tree" campaign, a maple tree was planted for every mill sold.

1993
The in-house development
The Penningberger Kornmühlen (PK) brand is founded. Under this brand, Peter Koidl produces his first self-developed grain mills with his own design. Thanks to their innovative technology, PK mills quickly found their way into specialist retailers.

1995
Capacity increase
PK products had become so well-known and popular across the market that Peter Koidl could no longer keep up with production. But a great solution was found: a partnership with a workshop in Tyrol. 85% of the employees at this facility are people with disabilities. This background perfectly aligned with Peter Koidl's philosophy, and so we continue to produce fairly in Tyrol to this day, thereby supporting people with disabilities.

2002
A global brand is born
On February 1, 2002, the KoMo brand was founded – a historic day. The worldwide distribution of the high-quality, handcrafted KoMo devices could now truly begin. Until that day, no one would have dared to dream that KoMo would one day supply over 65 countries worldwide with these sustainable products.

2013
Reinforcements have been provided.
Peter Koidl's son, Marcel Koidl, joined the company as a general laborer. His tasks initially began at the very start of the production chain. These included order picking, janitorial duties, and much more. After learning the basics, the qualified mechanical engineer found his place at KoMo as an assistant to the management.

2015
We continue to grow
Due to the ever-increasing demand in recent years, it was time to create more space in production. To meet the growing demand for KoMo products, new halls were built, staffing was expanded, and new machinery was purchased. A total of €7 million was invested, and we are now proud to say that over 70 of our 300 employees are already lovingly building our KoMo devices in this area.

2015
New impetus in management
In 2015, Marcel Koidl joined the management team as CEO. Since then, his entrepreneurial vision and commitment have shaped the company's strategic direction and provided important impetus for sustainable development.

2022
A new home for KoMo
We were delighted to open a new chapter in our company history in 2022: Our headquarters moved from Penningberg to Itter! This move not only created more space for our ideas but also optimal conditions for our production. In our new, spacious premises, we now combine administration, our own manufacturing facilities, and a beautifully designed showroom under one roof. This allows us to manufacture our mills and flakers with even greater care while welcoming our customers in an inviting environment.
